As controversy rages at rock nyc over who writes about poverty and how they wrote about it. Larry Lachmann, the former guitarist of one of the greatest power pop bands I've ever heard, the Bounce, took me to task over my extreme opinions on Bruce Springsteen's new album. Here is his response:
So if someone is rich, he can't be offended or have an opinion about the powers that be, whom they believe responsible for fucking up the country? Nonsense.. He got rich honestly, he didn't fuck anybody over to get it. I'm surprised at you Iman. He's an artist, and to get your views across, sometimes you assume the role of those you are championing. He's not saying he's someone he's not. It's his stance. It's artistic license
" I just don't see it that way. He is absolutely working class, it's just been a long time since is W-2 reflected that status.. But he really is. It's not like Davis Lee Roth put this album out.. This guy is just a regular dude, who is a phenomenally successful musician… Feel free to post on nyc, anytime.. By the way, although I'm a Bruce fan, and have been since the 70's, I'm not a devotee who would jump to his defense just because you may have said something negative about my idol. Just a "regular" fan!!"
