Goldenvoice has just announced a long list of concerts for April, and yes, bands which are playing Coachella, will be performing in the area between weekend 1 and weekend 2.
‘April is going to be amazing’ says Goldenvoice on its facebook page, sure, you will be easily be able to go to four of five Goldenvoice shows every day! I mean if you have a vehicle and are willing to drive as far as Pioneertown’s Pappy & Harriet’s where Girls and Yuck have a gig on the 19, or the Pomona’s Glass House and the Fox Theater where Arctic Monkeys have a show on the 11, Refused and M83 on the 12, the Hives/the Rapture and Bon Iver on the 16, A$AP Rocky on the 17, Explosions in the Sky on the 18, and Tune-Yards and Pulp on the 19.
There are still many shows in LA, like Band of Skulls, Wild Flag at the El Rey on the 16 and the 19, Kasabian at the Fonda on the 17, Neon Indian at the Echoplex on the 17, or Justice at the Nokia on the 18.
For me, many of these shows are still a little too far for a week-day show, but everyone is making such a big deal that Refused is playing again, as explained Jon Halperin who books the Glass House:
‘Refused has only played California once, and that was at the Showcase Theater in Corona as an opening band. They were booked at Chain Reaction in Anaheim once, and the band broke up halfway through the tour and never made it out.’
So it looks like a must-see. One thing is sure, they have to keep these bands busy now that Coachella spreads over two weeks!
