The Sunset Junction Fair may never resuscitate but the 2012 Silver Lake Jubilee line-up is there, with a plethora of indie bands, and more to come in the following weeks. Aloe Blacc and Kinky are headlining the event, which will take place on Memorial Day weekend, May 26th-27th, on Santa Monica Boulevard at Sunset.
With so many bands playing around quite often, I end up having seen a lot of them already, including the two headliners but also Allah-Las, Catwalk, Eastern Conference Champions, Family of the Year, Fidlar, Funeral Party, He’s my Brother, She’s My Sister, Incan Abraham, Letting Up Despite Great Faults, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Matthewdavid, Moses Campbell, but who could resist to have more of Fidlar or MMM?
Also playing at the Jubilee: Autolux, Chasing Kings, The Dharma Bums, La Santa Cecilia, Las Cafeteras, Leslie & The Badgers, Madi Diaz, The Mo-odds, Princeton, The Record Company, Robert DeLong, Summer Twins, TEARISt, Virtual Boy, and more to be announced.
The general admission is $20 or 35 for a two-day pass, and tickets are on sale at the festival website (http://silverlakejubilee.com/ticketshttp://silverlakejubilee.com/tickets, and you will get a t-shirt bonus!) or you can purchase them at Amoeba Music, Bar Keeper, Origami Vinyl, Vacation Vinyl and Wacko/Soap Plant, as well as at the entrance of the festival, the day of the event.
The big question is of course whether this line-up is worth the $20… Let’s see, you pay between $8 to $10 to enter the Echo or the Satellite to see 2 or 3 bands, and we will be able to catch around 30 bands at the Jubilee. Do the math!
