Los Angeles based singer/songwriter David Shane Smith continues to amaze me, his new video for the track ‘Overfeeling’ is a weird journey in a both familiar and scary Los Angeles, with Mexican glass candles, needles, blood and a change of heart/heart transplant which will surely make you feel very uncomfortable.
This is how the video is described:
‘A dark tale about one man's journey to experience life more deeply. In a subtly surreal version of modern day Los Angeles, our hero and his girlfriend casually seek out technological assistance on a quest for him to reach new realms of human understanding. What he finds is a state of excess as he ends up connecting with more than he originally bargained for. The struggle between nature and technology, love and apathy, overfeeling.’
Talk about a surrealist and creepy dream with some retrofitted technology!
While David Shane Smith sings his eerie electro-pop, head in the clouds and with the most unexpressive face, there is an overwhelming abundance of images, and if you will probably not make sense of some of them, the color-and-light-saturated abstract cinematography is fantastic.
The video was directed by Sasha Gransjean, and the song 'Overfeeling' is off David Shane Smith's album ‘Controls SM’.
