I got this from CBS Los Angeles and LA weekly: Robert Dewey Hoskins, 54, the guy convicted of stalking Madonna, was captured on February 10th, not far from the mental hospital he had escaped. He was nevertheless loose for a week and had threatened to kill Madonna with a knife.
Now, journalists have revealed more about the guy, and in particular what he had kept in a Long Beach storage facility, an unit, surprise, full of Madonna memorabilia and rather disturbing items.
Actually, there was the expected stuff for a Madonna stalker, like a ‘photo of Hoskins shirtless displaying the Madonna tattoo on his stomach’, and ‘a picture of the singer striking a similar pose’, ‘an H&M ad featuring Madonna’, (bizarre, if he obsesses about her, couldn’t he have found a better picture, I mean not an ad?). But there were even creepier items, like butcher knives and other types of knives (I have an obvious problem with knife freaks), and some stuff that made the detectives worry, such as a collection of dolls and Barbies (the guy didn’t have any children), a decapitated baby doll (just weird and creepy) and tons of videos showing young children, an elementary-school play, even a young girl reciting soap opera dialogue. This inventory could come from a bad horror movie or some Stephen King's novel.
Obviously the guy is not sane, he also focused on Halle Berry at one point, and may be now on children!
This makes me think about celebrities and being famous, what a strange thing it is. We certainly live among crazy and mentally-ill people, psychopaths are everywhere, but what are the chances one would obsess about me? It could happen if he lives in my neighborhood, but celebrities are more probable targets for these deranged individuals than any average person.
If I was Madonna, I would have been really anxious with this guy on the loose and his closet full of knives! Remember, John Lennon was killed by a stalker, John Hinckley shot president Ronald Reagan to impress Jodie Foster he was obsessing about, Michael Jackson had numerous stalkers who sent him hundreds of letters threatening to commit mass murders at his concerts…
How weird to be famous and having people obsessing about you to that point!
