What is sad is when a new and upcoming band hits a bad luck even if its self imposed. The band After Party were en route from a Boston gig to Staten Island when they totaled their van in poshy Roxbury CT.
On the road supporting All Star Weekend, the last thing wide eyed kids need is the harsh reality of how grueling road life can be.
But what makes this story so much more powerful is the admission by driver/ guitarist Andy Bell;
“I was driving at the time and already really low on sleep,” “We were only five miles away from where we were staying and I was starting to get really drowsy, but since we were so close I wanted to just finish the drive. “I fell asleep for a split second as we came up to a curve, and we ran off the road over a guard rail.”
A harsh reality and a painful financial lesson but a great real life scneario to offer to their fans. I appreciate the honesty of Bell and how refreshing to hear such straight talk rather than double speak and excuses.
