In 1954 the incomparable James Stewart was learning to play sax to portray the uncomparable Glenn Miller for the Glenn Miller Story (which unfortunately is comparable) in which the incomparable Louis Armstrong portrayed the incomparbale Louis Armstrong.
Discouraged, one day on the set Stewart asked Armstrong for advise. “Tonight when you get home ask your wife to sit on your face” was the reply.
The next morning Stewart walked up to Armstrong in the middle of the soundstage and saluted him.
