Washington, DC singer songwriter Sarah Fridrich is visiting brooklyn on a Saturday, February 25th, 2012 and maybe well worth checking it out.
As I grow increasingly tired with women who play and sing like rejects from a Lifetime Movie, Sarah Fridrich, leader of the duo, sings off-kilter, piano based pop, that aims, or claims to, for a populism, but finds itself in a weird world of its own. Even bluesy work outs like "Deck Of cards" off her first album, 2011's You Call That Brave, isn't what it appears to be. Maybe because Kirk Kibichek is something of a jazz drummer.
Sarah namechecks Dresden Dolls, though I can't quite hear it. She comes across as a failed pop star but not ina bad way and while I'm not crazy about Brave, I've got a feeling that could change with a few more listens.
Ms. Fridrich are playing February 25th, 2012 @ 7:30pm WHERE: The Way Station, 683 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238. A Saturday. They are definitely worth checking out.
