Yup. Magpie is stepping in tonight since our guy Iman is off watching live music. We pay the price for not having a local gig by having to sit through Lana Del Rey.
Lana is actually Elizabeth Grant. Born in 1986 shes just a pup in the scheme of things. An American singer songwriter who had to venture across the pond to make it big- and did so with gangbusters. Of course a name change and a stylist doesn't hurt one tiny bit. January 30th will be the release date of her first 'real' album She has offered up some digital downloads- but here something to get your hands on.
Shes typical, a pretty girl with a pretty voice singing about life. What I don't 'get' here is what the hell is she doing on SNL? The show sucks so maybe they want to drum up some 'hip'? I have no idea but there are tons of other bands who deserve to be on that show more than this years model. That generic pouty face stereotypical waify thing, pretty much makes me want to vomit.

Mary Magpie summed it up this way, "First of all, was she wearing a wig? And why was she wearing a really ugly lace creme dress? More importantly, she has absolutely zero talent. She can't sing for her life- what is she even doing on the screen. What is this. It's embarassing to watch and painful. It sounds like a friend doing really bad, drunk, karaoke and all you can do is sit there and cringe. I'm horrified by the overall severe suckage of the performance."
Me? This is my idea of hell. BUT, I really like her dress and well…she really likes herself so three cheers for self esteem.
