Black Sabbath Pull Out of Coachella

Coachella has sold out in just a few hours, both weekends, but there is nothing surprising there. What is surprising is the news that Black Sabbath almost played the music festival!

According to the LATimes, which got it from Billboard magazine, the famous heavy metal band was supposed to be one of the headliners but had to pull out because of Tony Iommi’s lymphoma diagnosis. The 63-year-old was recently diagnosed with the early stages of the disease and wrote this on his website to thank his fans:

‘I just want to say how overwhelmed I am with all your messages of support, thank you so much’

‘It's not what I wanted for Christmas, that's for sure, but now I can't wait for the test results to come in and get going with the treatment.

‘It's really good that the guys are coming over so that we can continue working on the albumas things are going great in the studio’.

The band’s publicist released a message asking fans to ‘send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time’, and, as he says, the musician is still collaborating with the other band members on their upcoming album, mostly recording in England because of his disease.

But you know that Black Sabbath has recently announced a world tour, which is supposed to start next May in Moscow; the publicist stated that ‘the previously announced BlackSabbath festival appearances and tour dates remain as scheduled’.

Let’s hope they will not have to cancel any other dates, but who of the present headliners was called at the last minute to replace them? Radiohead? The Black Keys? Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre? My bet is on the Black Keys.
