1. Just Because – John Lennon – Dr. Winston O'Boogie clowns through the spoken parts and the rhythm slows down the song, but the vocal is immaculate and a reminder of how tough and tender our (debatably) greatest rock and roll singer could be. Ps The song, by Lloyd Price, isn't slight at all.
2. Many Happy Returns – ABC – One of our most ludicrously literate lyricist, ""Like the world spinning round on its axis, I know democracy but I know what's fascist!"
3. Forgiveness – Girls – My problem with Girls is Chris Owens vocals smooth everything out, the mopey wanker. The ending of this song is unreal. but the vocals don't work.
4. Easy – Real Estate – I dunno about tonight, I like em but, like Girls, I find them a little boring.
5. Bleak Blake – King Krule – I got it, I got it. The kid is 17.
6. Precious Day – The Maccabees – Their new album is getting loud buzz in the UK. Here in the States we have little time for English people who aren't female solo acts. Thos song, off their breakthrough album, ain't bad.
7. Last Day Of Our Acquaintance – Sinead O'Connor – It's not that she is unhappy now and was happy here. It's that she is never happy.
8. Off To The Races – Lana del Rey –
9. . Tattoo – Van Halen – Sure, Eddie is a good guit"My old man is a bad man but I can't deny the way he holds my hand…" It all depends on the album and if she figures out her stagecraft.arist even now. The song itself? Not so much.
10. Personality – Lloyd Price – Those horns are like emotional parenthesis and Price is completely comfortable even without his piano leading the way.
