Gloria Estefan #1 On The Latin Chart

Hey Gloria Estefan is earning props as the first female artist to enter the Billboard US Latin charts at number 1.  The 54 yr old entered  at the top with “Hotel Nacional”, which is the second single from “Miss Little Havana”, her first album in four years.  This is a huge accomplishment from the woman who shouted ‘do that conga’.

A huge Latino following for this icon who was able to cross over to mainstream pop during the dance days.  She became synonymous with hot summer night dances with her distinct beat.

Formerly with Miami Sound Machine, Estefan went solo in the late 80’s and hasn’t looked back.

In the tabloids love her, between her infertility and her bus crash its nearly white noise.  The accolade of first entry at #1 is a victory of merit (finally).  Only male artists have achieved this designation- including Ricky Martin in 1986.  Only 11 songs total have debuted in the number one spot.

“Hotel Nacional” is a mix of Spanish and English and is Glorias 115th chart topper on the Latin Billboard chart.
