Singles Going Steady, Week Of December 19th, 2011

The Head And The Heart – The Head And The Heart – Generic indie folk outta Seattle. But generic are just as good as the original only earier t get. A consistently pleasurable kichen sink of folk sound. Especially the haunting "Down In The Valley". Grade: B

Into The Woods – Of Monsters And Men – The chick bloke axis and ska two tones works great on the excellent "Little Talks", but the rest of the songs on the album are a little drab.

JUICE EP – Rosco Dash – He has a good voice, it kinda grates and amazes at the same time. Plus, "Very First Time" is a perfect song, with background vocals to die for it. But the rest of the tracks aren't good enough. Grade: B

Marry The Night Remix EP – Lady Gaga – It might make more sense on the dance floor, but in my living room it is another example of Gaga's inability to find the right people to do her re-mixes Grade: C

Gold In The Shadow – William Fitzsimmons – "melds depravity, honesty, and autobiography" it sez here. if only. Grade: C

The Con Demos – Tegan And Sara – It might be a touch pointless to go after this twittering duo, but this isn't the worst of them. Maybe it's the season, but I guess it isn't terrible, terrible…  "The Con" is actually a good song. but  fuck it. They need to write better and sing much better.Gives lesbians a bad name. Grade: C-
