Karmin “Crash Your Party”, Reviewed

Until recently, the two person band Karmin, comprised of Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan, had only ever released their covers of popular songs like Lil Wayne’s “6 Foot, 7 Foot” or Chris Brown’s “Look at me now”.

However,in October of 2011 they released a single, “Crash Your Party” and now they’vereleased a music video for the song.

The song itself is a fantastic representation of everything that Karmin is.

Karmin’s sound is hard to describe but I suppose you could say it sounds like a cross between Matt & Kim, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj; this is what Karmin describes as Swag Pop. Now, this may sound like quite the perplexing combination of sounds, and trust me: I’m not the biggest fan of Nicki or Jessie, but it is this strange sound that makes Karmin so unique.

“Crash Your Party” is incredibly fun, theatric and definitely the perfect party song. The video, of course, excellently reflects the song. Amy embodies the definition of a Swag Pop vocalist. You can see in the video how entertainingly enthusiastic she is. Not only is she an exciting pop vocalist, but when it comes to the song’s rap verse, she completely shatters your expectations and blows you away with witty lyrics and some of the fastest, smoothest rapping you will ever hear.

As great as Amy’s vocal’s are, they’re nothing without her fiancé’s keyboard and synthesizer accompaniment. He gives the song an energizing beat that complement’s Amy’s voice very well. The two work perfectly together to create a song, and video, that will surely become very popular.
