Most of you know that I am a vegan as is Mary Magpie and Alyson is a vegetarian. I think I can safely say that we a compassionate lot and regardless of our politics appreciate the kind treatment of our fellow creatures.
People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals are not exactly a controversial free organization, and that's a good thing. Their mission though to some extreme is actually helpful to the world at large. Even those who feel PETA stands for People Eating Tasty Animals (and who have cars up on blocks in their front yard)
This year its a joy to see so many companies and bands we have covered up for the LIbby Award.
To quote PETA
Whether it's including pro-vegan literature in all merchandise orders or always making room for animal activists on tours, Fearless Records, Fueled By Ramen, No Sleep Records, and Equal Vision Records all go the extra mile to promote animal-friendly attitudes-and that's why they're all up for the Libby Award for Most Animal-Friendly Record Label from peta2, PETA's youth division. The sixth annual Libby Awards ("Libby" is for "liberation") honor animal-friendly people and products.
Congratulations also to The Swellers, Chris Drew, and HelloGoodbye for their humane nods as well
Voting ends on December 23, and the winners will be announced on January 17. The winners will be chosen by peta2 based on equal consideration of three factors: the number of votes received, the quality of the animal-friendly product or the nominees' enthusiasm for being animal-friendly, and feedback from the nominees' fans.
