Yup, it's that time of year when rock stars visit the metropolis and I give up on the concept of sleep till further notice. Swedish House Mafia is the biggie here, a swift sell out (in never got past the Facebook presale). This is a huge gig for them (I believe they're recording it), not only is it at MSG -a big room by most standards, but for dance fans anyway, it is the biggest thing this side of Miami (Or Ibiza). I can't wait. 16th.
I've been listening to Steve Wynn's 2010 album quite a bit recently, and he did that baseball album with Mike Mills. At Bowery Electric, a nice room, with a balcony so good sightlines
Last time I saw Ryan Adams on stage, he was opening for Oasis in 2009. He was great as well. But, I'm sorry, Ashes And Rain is a disappointment. I don't blame Mandy Moore. I blame Los Angeles, where Ryan moved after his marriage. Still, he is always great (if you've been reading Alyson's reviews you'll know what I mean) and this is at Carnegie Hall -everybody gets it up for Carnegie.6th.
The Phenomenal Handclap .Band – Playing at the Girlie Action annual Christmas bash, a private party and I will be very interested to see how this soul dance conglom bring it. At Wired on the7th.
Jingle Ball!! Pitbull!!!! Lady Gaga (watcha think, suck or solid?) Demi Lovato, OK. But KELLY CLARKSON!!!!!!!!! 9th.
Some running around on Sunday, 7pm Laura Marling, 8pm Jane Birkin. But Laura is an early show at McKittrick Hotel and Jane 8p at Town Hall. I wonder what Laura is doing in town? wonder if it has anything to do with Ryan at Carnegie Hall…?
