Ellie Goulding At Madison Square Garden, Wednesday, November 16th, 2011, Reviewed

Who can like Elie Goulding? A long legged, long distance running, pop monstrosity from the UK, always running dead last and so much so she had the dubious honor of playing at Prince William's wedding. A godawful "Your Song" was the sucker they suffered through.

Alyson Camus caught Ellie's solo act in L.A. back in April and was suitably unimpressed. and I couldn't stomach her album, which entered the UK charts at # 1,  Of all the electro poppin' chick singer songwriters, the Jessie J's and Florence Welch's, she is easily the worst.

Except her, hard hitting, energetic, loud and fun set opening for Katy Perry at MSG on Wednesday belied our bad press. Singing in front of a drummer a synth player and a keyboardist while banging a drum mid stage, Ellie was a little ball of dynamite. Her somewhat bland album improved by leaps and bounds when the hot pants wearing, blonde hottie  tore up the entire stage and seemed quite at ease in the daunting Arena!

I arrived late (in a failed attempt to miss it all) and only heard the last handful of songs but "Animal", which made ZERO impression on the record,  just roared and struck like lightning and the last song, "Lights"  -I actively dislike that one, was quite the revelation.

So I don't hate Ellie Goulding any more. At least not on stage.
