If you've been holding off getting Wesley Wolfe's mindbendingly great sophomore album Cynics Need Love Too, one of my top five albums of the year, it is now on Spotify so guess, what? Time's up.
I don't know what sort of musical climate doesn't have the time for a guy who 20 years ago would've been opening for Split Enz and about to get signed to WB. The problem is, how do you get heard? How do you tour for peanuts when you have a wife and kid at home who need you? It is really a shame when a man who was born to make music can't make, not millions, but a living at it.
There is so much clutter, so many options, a Facebook and a mailing list will only take you so far, it is almost impossible for the folks who would love him to hear him. Thi ain't for teens, this is for the fans of grunge who wany sophisicated pop music and they are not listening to him.
The truth is Wesley needs to be really listened to, his melodies don't always grab you, they repay repitition. And now you can repay at will and put him on your playlists or stream the entire album over and over at will.
So do so.
