Jon Brion, (whom I saw not so long ago at the Fiona Apple and friends at Largo), Jon Brion the multi-instrumentalist (I saw him in action and he is really something as a one-man band adding loops and loops of different instruments recorded on stage), Jon Brion the producer extraordinaire who has worked with tons of people (Aimee Mann. Fiona Apple, Rufus Wainwright, The Crystal Method, Eleni Mandell, Rhett Miller, Robyn Hitchcock, Brad Mehldau, Elliott Smith, Evan Dando, Kanye West, Dido, Spoon, Keane, Of Montreal,..), Jon Brion the soundtrack composer, who has composed the music for so many movies (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Break-Up, I Heart Huckabees, Punch Drunk Love, Step Brothers, Synecdoche, NY, Glago's Guest, The Other Guys, The Future), yes that guy is going to produce the next Best Coast album.
They are said to begin the recording in the following weeks, and the album will come out early 2012. But, according to the LA Times, this should not come as a surprise as Bobb Bruno from Best Coast spent plenty of time on the Largo scene, rather known as Jon Brion’s HQ.
