I love that they call this film 'touching', I also love that they cosider people like Art Aleksakis and Mark Mothersbaugh punk rock but thats another story all together. Yes, if you have sex at just the right time, you can actually make stuff with the by-products. Yup, and that stuff you can make is human. Even musicians can make them, its a fact.
The list of men in the public eye who are considered 'punk' who have completed the mission of ejaculation for procreation include Jeremy Chilnick, Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Tony Adolescent (The Adolescents), Fat Mike (NOFX), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), skater Tony Hawk (hes a freaking SKATER for Gods sake), Mark Hoppus and Flea.
The premise of the film is that you go from "Fuck Authority" to being authority and I suppose youre supped to get all choked up that Flea can change a diaper or something. To me this is the same as "Accountant Dads" or "Civil Engineer Dads", its a rather weak idea used only to pluck your heartstrings when these guys can no longer pluck guitar strings.
I'm sure its moving but the thought is so lame and self serving that I cant help but wonder if its a court ordered mandate for visitation. I know for certain that one father in this production opted to be at filming in LA rather than with his daughter who the very day I interviewed him, was celebrating her birthday in another state. Way to go Art.
Ya see being a dad has nothing at all to do with with what shoots out of you but rather what you give freely to the human who looks up to you- no matter what you do for a living.
I will boycott this film- based solely on the ridiculous thought that a 'punk rock father' is any more noteworthy than any other father.
But heres the show dates if you need a saccharine fix, I'm sure it will end up on Oxygen or Lifetime eventually but ya ain't gonna see it on Spike.
