Alesana stream new single, 'A Forbidden Dance'

I never really understood the job of keyboardist in a hardcore band.  It's sorta like letting your ugly friend go out with you but maybe sitting them in the dark. But what the hell are horns doing in a hardcore song?

Forbidden Dance is perfectly titled a cross between a skip along song and a polka intro it opens up to a frantic…wait that's untrue.  It opens up to a poppy rock song..with a horn section.  Dipping from jazzy guitar riffs to tons of brass it hooks a left to Dennis Lee's unmistakable growl.

This song is has more twists than a ride on Space Mountain.  Leave it to my faves Alesana to take the genre and tweak it hard enough to introduce the  kids to alternative sound.  Milkes vocals higher than ever will make the girls squeal and make me cringe but in a great way.  The contrast of Milke and Lee are the yin and yang of hardcore as a whole.  No duo does it better and no band other than Alesana has the nerve to even attempt a Burt Bacharach (look it up kids) inspired brass section.  It is brilliant it is powerful and it makes me die a little inside knowing I have to wait fo the rest of the album to come out.

I have chased this band for a couple years now- the brass ring in my eyes.  I cant find one negative thing to say about them and after literally years I can honestly say they have gotten better and stronger as time progresses.  Their live show is about the best you can ever experience.  From large hall to intimate venue this band owns the stage.  Taking a risk as they are with "Forbidden Dance', just reinforces the fact that this band has more sweat covered courage than any other hard rock band out there.

The new album "A Place Where The Sun Is Silent" drops October 18th- the tour….right there with it.  Get the LP see the tour and be blown away.
