I really don’t understand people, I don’t get why being pregnant suddenly makes your music better,… an album was released 2 months ago, you didn’t buy it, then, because there is a baby in the way you run to the next record store and buy it? Where is the logic behind this? Well it works because this is what happened to Beyonce’s album ‘4’, after her baby announcement at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The song she performed ‘Love on Top’ was boosted into the iTunes top 5, and the album made its way back into the top 10 on iTunes, very conveniently at no 4, according to the LA Times. Her album has been struggling since its release, with fewer than 700,000 copies sold according to Nielsen Soundscan, since its June release (which is not very good for her) and the two singles, ‘Run the World (Girls)’ and ‘The Best Thing I Never Had’ have performed modestly on the charts.
I don’t know if she made the announcement with the purpose to boost her sales in the back of her mind, but if she did, it’s kind of child exploitation in utero!
But apparently being pregnant has the same effect on your record sales than being dead… interesting.
