GLAAD's dispiseing Odd Future is ridiculous. Odd Future? For calling gays fags? Am I missing the story here? Tyler won, and correctly, the VMAs best new artist of 2011.
Matt Kane , GLAAD's Associate Director of Entertainment Media writes that Tyler "writes some of the most violently anti-gay and misogynistic music currently enjoying mainstream recognition." (I am cut and pasting the quotes off Pitchfork). I dont see it.To write "I hate you because you're homosexual and want to be fucked up the ass" is one thing. to say "hey faggot, you ain't as tough as me" is something else again.
Why can't people hear the difference is beyond me. I couldn't support gay marriage, gay rights, the expressiom that gays, lesbians, whateveriasm, have every right to the same rights and freedoms as I do. But not at the loss of Tyler's right to be homophobic. Which he isn't. It is hot homophobic to call a a man a fag and it is not antiblack to call a black person a nigger and it is not anti-woman to call a woman a cunt.
