LCD Soundsystem gave more hoopla in their farewell shows than they ever did as a functioning entity. More press, more drama more accolades in death then in life. So it goes sometime. Left behind like confetti on the dance floor is one of the most 'cant sit still' songs of all time. You hear this and you inevitably tap something- what that is would be completely up to you.
The lyrics hit home if you're a 40-50 something. Ringing somewhat true but also offering that 'I was there and you were not' arrogance that old timers wear as badges of honor. I certainly do. I may watch your moshpit but I was there at the first slam dance so you're just a duplicate of what's been.
The song is lyrically brilliant and musically addictive the repetition adding to the frustration of the song itself. I swear there are points when James Murphy actually sounds just like Christopher Walken. I suppose that's calculated but regardless its amusing in itself.
This is a dance song for those who don't dance, for us has beens who hold up the wall far too cool to dance. Seriously dancing is so lame. This song does make me want to slap someone though. YouTube is filled with clove cigarette smoking hipsters having deep conversations about drum layers.
Oh shut up its a damn song. A damn good song at that.
