The Strokes "Taken For A Fool" Live at Madison Square Garden, Reviewed

Whoa what the hell is going on at the start of this song?  Its like the vocals belong on another song, really weird sound levels are either my speakers or weird production.  Just as Im about to hit the double verticals(that's hip talk for pause), I hear……..Elvis Costello.

Ahhhaa, so this is why it ended up in my inbox!  Elvis adds his distinct nasal yelp to this musical calliope- really the guitar riff is going to make me off myself its just way to high.

I suddenly want to hear Julian and Elvis do 'Father and Son', I'm kidding but what the hell is this pairing?  The King of New York and The Kids of New York?  Would the angry young Elvis ever have hob knobbed with these upstarts?

The most amazing thing about this song is that at about quarter way in- it merges fantastically.  It simply works.  The screwed up guitar, the nasal, the heroin slur the whole bit sorta coagulates like bubblegum rolled in gravel.  I totally dig it.
