As Jive records is usurped by Sony, Epic and RCA are divvying up the artists. According to Page Six, Usher, Ciara and Outkast go to Epic and Justin Timberlake, Britney, and Pink to RCA. And nobody wants Chris Brown because he is a pain in the ass.
Meanwhile, Friday is expected to blood letting day, with the Jive promotions department being given the heave ho.
If you get the chance take a gander at Jive's Wikipedia page. It is like a window into a world long gone. Zomba (Jive's parent company) wanted to remain a music publishing company (and given that music publishing is where the money is…) but slowly got seduced into the big bucks work.
In the 80s everybody from Jazzy Fresh to Aaliyah got their start there, and in the 90s, Britney and Backstreet Boys called it home.
Kind of a shame in away.
