Amazon.com Uber Alles

Those Amazon five buck albums are speaking in tongues to me.

I am an ITunes guy through and through but honestly? Their $6.99 albums are lame and a buck thirty for a track is killing me. Amazon have great choices available on their cheapos, they are a cinch to download on to itunes, once Itunes gets Icloud up and running I will stick all music there there and it won't matter where I'm buying it.

So, the other day I drew $20 from the Southern Trust and invested in four albums.

Only By The Night – Kings Of Leon – OK, this isn't the piece of crap I have claimed it was for the past couple of years. Sure the TWO HITS are awful, "Sex On Fire" and "Use Somebody" are awful seriou-southern rock. But the rest of the album is pretty good. Another hit, "Be Somebody" is so well executed, I kinda get what the fuss is about. Grade: B

Horses And High Heels – Marianne Faithfull – Her smokey vocals are sweeter than we've become used to, and her choice of songs way more mainstream and "Back In Baby's Arms" is not the Patsy Cline song. Grade: B

Person Pitch – Panda Bear – His first album; alt chamber music for snobs and aficiandos. What didn't I like about him again? Grade:A

WHOKILL – Tune-Yards – I had meant to buy this earlier in the year when it first came out. A helluva lot more sophisticated then the first one, which was pretty sophisticated to start with. All electronica, loops and yelps. Grade: B+
