Fischer Z's song "So Long" is one of my most guilty pleasure songs. Funny, I cant recall any length of time when this song hasnt blasted out of my car stereo.
John Watts and the guys started up in 1976. That kooky falcetto. "The Worker" another Z 'hit' seemed so industrial (how appropriate!) and I can remember this getting tons of colleg airplay. I couldnt understand why "So Long" wasnt more popluar.
Its a great song and anyone who says 'fraaaaaaaaahnce' is pretty cool in my book.
The band is still around, sorta. Ten albums made the last actually done in 2011 titled "John Watts – Fischer-Z 2011". The last true album was in 2002.
I think the selling point for these guys is the fluctuating vocal, that high pitched sound of "The Worker" the low speak of "Room Service" but ahh, nothing compares to "So Long".
Take a look and I bet you'll remember this song, but totally forgot how cool it is.
