Camp Bisco Top 5 Must Sees

The 10th anniversary of Camp Bisco is less then three weeks away!!! As I begin to re-connect with campers from last year, and get my plans set in stone for my comute to/from Mariaville, NY; again carpooling in encouraged by everyone from Camp Bisco to me to mother earth.

As I examine, and re-examine the line-up there are a few shows I am obviously more stoked to catch then others. Check out my top-5 must see at Bisco X.

SHPONGLE

Shpongle (pronounced /ˈʃpɒŋɡəl/) is a psychedelic downtempo or Psybient music project. They were at Wakarusa with the famed "ShpongleTRON", ( a huge robot onstage, fully equipped with lights and the two musicians inside), but due to another show, I missed it.. Never again. As I heard their sampled eastern ethnic instruments and western contemporary synthesizer-based psychedelic sound was incredible.

This is will be Shpongle's first ever performance as a full ensemble in the United States!!!

HOLY GHOST! (DJ Set)

Our homies, Alex Frankel and Nick Millhiser of Holy Ghost! from NYC will be rocking a DJ set at Bisco. Unfortunately, with out their full band, who have rocked singles such as "Hold on," "I will come back,", "Do it again" and "Static on the Wire" will not be joining them onstage. I would still expect a very dope set, and I'm sure you will be able to catch them before/after at the DFA tent hanging out.

After an amazing set at Wakarusa, I was determined to see as much Ghostland Observatory as possible. Their light-show was in-freakin-credible wow!! The duo of  Thomas Ross Turner and Aaron Behrens, where Turner, the producer/drummer/keyboardist and Behrens's interested in being a psychedelic rockstar, which he most certainly is with his gnarly vocals and striking guitar work, have been the front of a new movement.

Deciding to produce a style of music, "electro-dance rock" that as yet existed only in their collective consciousnesses; Behrens and Turner formed Ghostland Observatory in Austin in 2003 and haen’t looked back since. They now sell out prominent venues across the country, have played at Lollapalooza, Bonaroo, Coachella and the Austin City Limits music festival, which they headlined, and continue to play at various music festivals and venues around the globe to an ever increasing fan base, thanks to their now-famous live shows.

SAVOY

I've written about Savoy before in the past, their last EP that i have, "Nothin for Nothin'" was a regular on my iPod for a while. Unfortunately, the last time I saw them live was 2008 with Pretty Lights, so there is no way in hell I am missing their electro house set. Some new songs, along with some old; not to be missed. They are rocking Fur night club in DC this weekend, and are scheduled at Lalapalooza in August.

YEASAYER

I honestly, do not know much about Yeasayer except a few singles "2080/Sunrise", "Wait for the Summer", and "End Blood" but I like what I hear, and always like to see an artist live at work before deciding how much I like or don't like them. I know that their last CD went top 100 in US, UK, and Aus, which is a good thing.

Get pumped with the Camp Bisco X trailer!!
