You don't have to be Nellie McKay to worship Doris Day, though it doesn't hurt either, her mid 20th Century career is a testament to a time gone by and a singer whose time has not yet passed.
Not nearly.
At the age of 87, Doris day has announced she has been recording songs in bruce Johnstone of the beach boys studio in Hollywood.
These are her first new tracks in years. Canoe report: "She has recorded 12 songs, four of which are new compositions alongside three classic rock tracks and a handful of new recordings of old standards.
Day says, "I had to sing some modern songs because I had already done all the old ones."
The veteran star is also amazed she still has a loyal fanbase after so many years out of the limelight, adding, "It's just such a thrill, and I'm honoured."
I am speechless with excitement. If she decides to play Los Angeles I would actually make the trip to see her.
