Fatboy Slim "Las Vegas Takeover 2011"

For the simple payment of your email address you can get a periodic free download by Sir Fatboy Slim.  He's not really a Sir, but hes pretty damn cool.  This typically is not my genre, I don't dance (don't ask me).

I loved Fatboy since the all that silly "Rockefeller Skank" stuff.  Not as long as most fans but long enough to feel worthy enough to discuss it.  The latest morsel is "Las Vegas Takeover 2011".  Hmmm…its not quite as sample packed as previous downloads, well not to start.

The interesting thing about Fatboy Slim is just when you've had enough of the repetition it changes "I'm In Las Vegas, Bitch" is said enough to make me want to gouge out my eye and right in time switches over "everybody in the house with a half an ounce…" becomes the new chant.  Sound familiar?  Yup this must be his favorite sample cuz its showing up all over the damn place.  Yet it works.

Switching it up again is a brilliant art.  The timing must be scientific since its literally the moment I think I cant take it any longer that it changes.  These songs are not your 3 minutes and out this is the 20 min plus song.. invented so DJ's can go drive pick up some food come back and not miss a dance step.  In the case of Fatboy Slim, you can go get dinner have a nap, shower, bake a cake and return and the song is still going strong.  That's what I call bang for the buck.

"Las Vegas Takeover 2011", is by far the weakest of all the downloads.  Its just a bit to unfamiliar for me.  Part of his appeal is dissecting the songs- cant to it here.  Still well worth getting if just for background music, you may just find yourself tapping in time.

Then again, you may find yourself gouging out an eye….timing is everything, silly Norman.
