Someone named @Discographies is tweeting these portraits of musicians and bands and I found them really awesome.
There was an interview of that mysterious guy in the Village Voice a while ago, as they had declared him ‘Music Critic of the Year’, since he summarizes a renowned singer of band in 140 characters or fewer. These are a few of his famous tweets:
‘Green Day: 1-2 ‘Retro-punk 4ever, dude! We'll never sell out or slow down or write rock operas!" 3 Sell out. 4-6 Slowdown. 7-8 Rock operas.’
‘Beck: " ' " ' " ' "Authenticity?’ [1-4] he smirked' [5] he taunted" [6] he implied' [7] he testified" [8] he sobbed' [9-11] he repeated.’
‘Bright Eyes: 1-7 ‘I had a roommate who wouldn't quit reading me his shitty poetry, so I moved out. Sometimes I wonder what happened to him.’
‘Paul McCartney: 2,5,11,16,19,21 the Ferris Bueller of pop; 3,4,6-9,12-15,17,18,20,22 Ferris Bueller's days off; 1,10 Home Alone.’
Kings Of Leon: 1-2 ‘fierce energy’ = loud and dull; 3-5 ‘greater artistic maturity’ = each generation gets the Goo Goo Dolls it deserves.’
And there are a lot of them! The website http://blog.thedaily.com is posting these cute drawings illustrating @Discographies' smart and merciful analysis of a few stars.
I like Bob Dylan’s ‘10% disdain for own history’, Justin Bieber’s ‘26% completely benign dreaminess’, Radiohead’s ‘21% serotonin deficiency’, Arcade Fire’s ‘12% Bono-esque grandiosity’, or Paul Simon’s ‘12% ignored email from Art Garfunkel’… but there are many more of them, just take a look!
