There is another biopic in preparation, yes another one, about Jeff Buckley, something I was expected sooner to be honest, knowing his melodramatic life already movie-ready, and his cult following.
Jack Scott, who has directed videos with U2, R.E.M., Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins among others, assisted by Buckley’s mother as executive producer, will direct the still untitled project, which will follow the musician’s life that ended up tragically by accidental drowning in 1997 when he was only 30.
As we all know, those who die young get a special status and the only album he ever recorded, ‘Grace’, is still venerated by many.
The filming of the biopic should start in the fall, there is still no word about the actor who could portray Buckley, but Robert Pattinson has asked to play him according to NME. However, I’m going to follow the crowd on that one, I would be all for James Franco playing the singer, because, come on, the resemblance is striking!
