Why does Neil Sedaka play nyc so seldom? I can't remember the last time he was in town. He is at the Theatre at Westbury this July. I'm a big fan but I've never managed to catch him in the city.
Or Paul Anka. A legendary figure who plays Vegas(and westbury) all the time, but doesn't bother with the big Apple. How is this possible? How can there not be a market for the teen idol who gave us "Diana" at one edge of his career, "Having My Body" somewhat later, and rwrote the lyric to "My Way" and handed if off to Sinatra. He couldn't sell out carnegie? OK, But he couldn't sell out Beacon? Of course he could.
Looking at an ad today's post, why are these names not playing at a place I can get to?
Englebert Humberdink
Tony Orlando
Kenny Loggins
Gloria Gaynor
The Village People.
Tony Orlando
Bobby Vee
I went to Westbury once to see Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. I don't drive and it was a bitch to get to. A train and a cab.But it is a nice room, in the round and even the worst seats are retty great, Good acoustics as well.
But like I said, too far away.
Back in the day, the late great Richard Nader would bring his old time garden party to MSG. I saw everybody there. From Little Richard, to the Platters (lotsa doo wop!). Richard died in 2009 and I guess they forgot to replace him.
Maybe we need a great promoted.
Maybe we wanna see a Sedaka or a Bobby Vee at Highline.
Might be some bucks in it.
