I recently wrote a post about how disappointed I was in 2011 so far. Here are my most listened to tracks of the year as a kinda counter argument.
1. I Do – Colbie Caillat – Knock out marriage approval song.
2. Digging For Something (Acoustic Demo – Superchunk – Includes the line of the year, "I don't know how to dance this slow, but I can try".
3. Tears – Marsha Ambrosius – Great soul song.
4. Jejune Stars – Bright Eyes – Central to his live show in 2011.
5. I Confess – k.d. Lang – Patsy Cline coulda covered it as part of her final session.
6. Shell Games – Bright Eyes – Released to introduced the album: COME LOVE LOAD HEAVY
7. Breakaway – Ramona – New wave rocker. Now where's the album?
8.. Do it Again – Dance rock band on the verge of breaking big.
9. Rubber – Yuck – Excellent indie song off excellent first album
10. Someone Like You – Adele – Made her a star in my eyes.
11. January Hymn – The Decemberist – Gorgeous folk rock
12.. The Afterlife – Paul Simon – Like Simon in 1970 and Simon in 1996 had a baby.
13.. Undercover Of Darkness – The Strokes – a template
14.. Singularity – Bright Eyes – Hidden in plain sight.
15. With You – Marsha Ambrosious – As good as D'Amgelo
