First of all the “Little Monsters” bit annoys the hell out of me. It took less than 16 hours for the Earthquake in Japan to hit and Gaga to have a prototype rubber bracelet up and a for sale on her website.
Little Monsters, show your support for Japan with this “We Pray For Japan” wristband! Choose your price to add an additional donation with your wristband. All proceeds go directly to Japan relief efforts.”
So states the web ad. Hmmm, so then I realize its only $5.00 and whatever else I opt to donate but just exactly how is this funding going to be distributed?
See listen up America, you cant go throwing out dough thinking you’ve helped. Find out how its going to help. I realize most ‘little monsters’ are going to get this cuz Lady said so (and if she told you to jump off a bridge you would as well), but use information to give to charities. Research a bit.
The images and news reports are heart wrenching. Natural disasters are just that, natural. We can prepare as best we can and then well its way our of our hands. Praying for Japan is very kind, wearing rubber bands is also quite trendy, but the odds of the Gaga fund rebuilding a damn is pretty damn small.
I like the thought, I wish it were that simple. Hell Ill sell paperclips with cute designs for Japan but until the funding process is clearly defined, dont kid yourself its trendy fun with a nice intention.
