One of the coolest things about the Arctic Monkeys WAS, their lyrics. Catchy well thought out almost comedic at times. Clever.
2009s release Humbug, was just that. A meh of an album that fell flat to me. They werent the Monkeys I loved they got all sterilized.
Now we have a new release entitled “Brick By Brick”. Its a Doors inspired (I’d say) post bong sucking hippy crap of repetition and boredom. Pointless lyrics that repeat occasionally over bland and uninspired music. What gives guys? If this were a school project I’d grade it with “Shows little effort”, “not working to full potential” and most likely request a parent meeting.
This is trash. Even the video exudes boredom.
If I want to be bored- there are much better ways to do it.
The Arctic Monkeys are currently in the studio, Im hopeful they threw this ball of human vomit at us to throw us off course. Im hopeful the new release will zip us right back to what made them great to begin with… catchy clever lyrics.
