Fundraisers In Los Angeles

There are always a lot of fundraising events going on in Los Angeles, and it is not because there are already tons of pre/post Oscars parties that it is slowing down; this week, there is the choice between these two:

* On Wednesday, there is the MoveOn.org fundraising ‘Dance for Equality’ at the Avalon, which will raise money to benefit the fight against Prop 8 and to restore marriage equality in California.
The evening will be hosted by angry ex-scientologistPaul Haggis (Academy Award-winning director & writer for Million Dollar Baby’ and ‘Crash’), actresses Lisa Edelstein, Patricia Velasquez, Heather Graham, and Cleve Jones, a renowned LGBT and AIDS rights activist.
Moby, The Crystal Method, and artist Shepard Fairey will headline the event.

Tickets are $25:

* The Silver Circle Thank you Gala was held Sunday at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, in order to raise money for the Venice Family Clinic, which provides free health care to people in need. Judd Apatow will be honored with the Humanitarian Award, and the Eels, Fiona apple and actor-stand-up comic Patton Oswalt will perform.
Fiona Apple? She is so rare these days…. but, damn, to be part of that one, you will need to be a donor of $2,000 or more to the clinic!
