Despite a very difficult beginning as a drug dealer, then an aspiring musician who got shot by 9 bullets in a 2000 shooting, he managed to reach the top. He even tried a movie career, invested into many different areas, got big endorsement deals for products such as Reebok, Right Guard, Vitaminwater, and founded G-Unit Records and G-Unit Clothing Company. He got really, really rich.
Then last July, he filed for bankruptcy in Connecticut! How did this happen when Forbes estimated his net worth at $155 million in May?
50 Cent got into a lot of drama, he had numerous feuds with rappers over the years, and recently a court decision ordered him to pay $7 million to a woman named Lastonia Leviston because he had posted her sex tape with her former boyfriend online without her consent. A crazy thing to do! Then another court decision ordered him to pay $17 million to headphone manufacturer Sleek Audio because G-Unit Records had copied their design.
So he decided to fill for bankruptcy a month ago, and the papers revealed what a spender he is: According to the NY Post, he spends $72,000 a month on his 18-bedroom Connecticut mansion in addition to $108,000 in other expenses.
Still, why declaring bankruptcy when you are so rich? Then, 50 Cent played it low profile, and he even went claiming he was just renting his numerous Bentley-Royce-Lamborghinis luxury cars, and borrowing his jewelry! Pretending that all this luxury was just for ‘entertainment’ and not really his, not really believable for someone who was named one of the richest rappers.
This story became even fuzzier 2 days ago, when the rapper revealed a bit too much on Instagram, by posting a vine with the text: ‘My crib is almost finished in AFRICA. I’m gonna have the craziest House warming party ever. I’ll explain later. I got a good life Man.’

Avoiding paying your due then moving all your millions in Africa may be an ‘interesting’ idea, but bragging about a new mansion two days later? Is 50 Cent that stupid?
