Two weeks ago, Frank Ocean was supposed to headline the FYF fest but cancelled at the last minute and was replaced by Kanye West. Everybody was stunned and the lack of explanation he provided has sure left everyone unsatisfied – a press release just stated he had ‘decided on his own terms to cancel his appearance’, mentioning a scheduling conflict beyond his control. Two weeks later, we still don’t have a satisfying answer, and worst, we don’t have any news of the singer songwriter, who was supposed to release an album 2 months ago… so naturally, theories are starting to pop up, theories of a more or less funny nature.
‘Starting to think frank ocean is dead’, tweeted someone,… ‘I may have a beard before frank ocean drop his album’….’I don’t think I can ever forgive Frank Ocean for what he did … He’s a grown man acting like a kid’,… ‘Frank Ocean that nigga to say he’s coming to your birthday party and never show up.’… There are a lot of these on Twitter!
Months ago, Billboard had confirmed that we could expect a new Frank Ocean album, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, in July,… and we are in September so it is totally legitimate for people to wonder. But this tweet attracted a lot of attention:
‘Frank Ocean delayed his album because I seduced him in France this summer and well… he ended up with a lot of new material. Sorry.’
It comes from gay poet Saeed Jones, who, according to his Instagram account, was really in France this summer. Still, plenty pictures of the ocean and no trace of Ocean there! Ha the joy of spying on people on the internet!! But seriously, this Ocean guy is in serious trouble, disappearing like this without giving a good explanation and not releasing the promised album is not good business. People were disappointed he wasn’t performing at the FYF fest, now they are turning angry with tweets like, ‘Remember when we thought frank ocean was gonna put out another album?’… ‘The greatest trick frank ocean ever pulled was convincing the world he exists’,… Ouch! But well deserved in a way.
Those who are not mad, are getting worried. The Verge reports that ‘people are starting to get worried about the location and well-being of Mr. Ocean.’: ‘Has anyone seen Frank Ocean? Not heard his new album, but have actually seen him in person with their own eyes in the last month?’
It’s actually very hard to get any real news, there is no social media update, and nothing interesting since this picture of him on Tumblr saying ‘I got two versions. I got twooo version…’
According to some insider source, yeah I have skimmed the whole internet for this, he was spotted in a flight to London on August 28th? Why? What was he doing there? People are currently questioning his health, his mental state, his possible depressive nature? I feel tension and despair everywhere, Frank, you better give some good explanation soon, or something bad is gonna happen soon.
