Anniversary: August 23rd was designated  European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Stalinism and Nazism back in 2008/2009.It is known as Black Ribbon Day and was chosen because it coincides with the signing of the  Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact in 1939, a non-aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union.

The Homeless: My feeling was that the Mayor rid us of the homeless in midtown (I saw one man sleeping in a stairwell being moved on West 47 yesterday) because he was worried about the voters, but now it appears he is worried about 42nd Street losing all its businesses.

Recorded: A steady diet of Earl Sweatshirt with some Madonna and the one song available by NxWorries thrown in.

Live: Getting ready for AC/DC with one eye on Janet Jackson at Prudential, where tickets are going for $35 on Stubhub.

Sports: “D’uh, winning”: both the Mets, five laps in first, and the Yanks, barely there but there none the less. In preseason, both the Giants and the Jets won -the Jets besides there every attempt to do otherwise.

News?: Nanny Christine Ouzounian offered $1 million to star in Batman vs. Superman porn parody. Not for nothing but a lousy mill? I don’t think so.

Heroes: “The action by servicemen on a high-speed train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris averted what officials said could have been a blood bath.”
