The Petit Family

I am against the death penalty because a) only the poor will die, b) I don’t trust the legal system as far as I can throw it, c) the reason for legal punishment is prevention and rehabilitation. However, news that the repeal of the death penalty in Connecticut means that Joshua Komisarjevsky and Steven Hayes won’t get it is well… you decide.

These are the guys who raped Jennifer Hawke-Petit and set her on fire, raped Hawke-Petit’s 11 year old daughter Michaela Petit smothered her with a pillow and set her on fire, Michaela died from smoke inhalation, and 17 year old Hayley Petit smothered her with a pillow and set her on fire.

Hayes was sentenced to death in 2010, Komisarjevsky was sentenced in 2011.

Five years later, FIVE YEARS, you and I are spending something like $50K a year to feed and house these terrible people when they should by law, be dead.

Yes, I am against the death penalty but there are exceptions, and one is a man who rapes an eleven year old girl, films it so it is found on his cell, ties her up, douses her in gasoline and sets her on fire.

The only hope is somebody in jail does what the insane legal world of the US refuses to do.
