Keith Richards is in the news for many reasons, first because of this new documentary ‘Under the influence’, which will premiere via Netflix on September 18th. According to the producers, it will be an unprecedented look at the Rolling Stones’ famous guitarist’s influences, songwriting process and guitar playing.
Richards, who will release ‘Crosseyed Heart’, his first solo record in over two decades, at the same time than the movie, couldn’t be more active and talkative. In an upcoming interview with Mojo (September 2015 issue), he has also revealed that he will be back in the studio with the full band.
‘Will we record and tour again? I think we will. We’ll do this year, then go into the studio,’ he told Mojo. The Stones are really unstoppable, and tireless.
‘I know Mick wants to record again – he blurted it out in a meeting: ‘It’s about time we went back and recorded. I was like, ‘We’re here to talk about a tour, right?’ So that will be interesting. End of the year,’ he added.
According to NME, Richards also admits he ‘wasn’t meant to make it this far,’ probably making allusion to his heavy drinking and drug consumption, but he also said he still ‘smokes regularly’ and has ‘an early morning joint. Strictly Californian’… of course!
The documentary was directed by Oscar winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom), who recently declared :

I just wonder why is this film directly released on Netflix? Why no theatrical release. Nevermind, despite his beat-up look, Richards is a true phenomenon, how many people in their 70s have such an active and creative life? After abusing their health so much? It is his good genes? Is it his good mind?Is it luck? Or all of the above? Probably!
