The idea of Donald Trump running for president is already very laughable, who effectively wants to see this orange bad wig, trumpeting-his-billions-TV-reality-star sleeping in the white house? He is probably one of the most despicable persons on earth and I am not the only one thinking this…. He is a racist and a troll, and if he thinks he can make more than 0.2%, he is going to be greatly disappointed. He has already lost the Mexican vote after what he said during his announcement – basically Mexican immigrants are rapists and drug criminals in his tiny head, what a surprise!
But Trump had such a high opinion of himself that he thinks he is entitled to anything, so he announced his bid for the presidency with Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’. What. a. joke. Except it is not one! How could a climate-change-denier pro-war billionaire think a second he could be associated with Young, the most liberal hippie of all our rock stars, who has constantly written anti-war, anti-establishment, pro-earth and pro-peace songs? When Bush was president Neil wrote ‘Let’s Impeach The President’, he is releasing an anti-Monsanto album, and since the early 60’s, he has proven to be our most political songwriter of these past decades, with obviously a great disdain for Trump’s ideas.
Neil Young expressed his disagreement to the LA Times through his longtime manager, Elliot Roberts: ‘Donald Trump was not authorized to use ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ in his presidential candidacy announcement. Neil Young, a Canadian citizen, is a supporter of Bernie Sanders for president of the United States of America’.
Did Trump even read the lyrics? ‘We got a thousand points of light/For the homeless man/We got a kinder, gentler/Machine gun hand/We got department stores and toilet paper/Got styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer/Got a man of the people, says keep hope alive/Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive’… Is it another case of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born to Run’? How can republicans be so dumb?
In a fair world, Young would sue Trump’s stupid ass, but according to Rolling Stone, a Trump’s spokesperson has revealed the track was legally used:
‘Through a license agreement with [performance-rights organization] ASCAP, Mr. Trump’s campaign paid for and obtained the legal right to use Neil Young’s recording of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ at today’s event. Mr. Trump is a huge fan of Neil Young and his music and will continue to be regardless of Neil’s political views.’
Of course, so why did Neil Young say he did not authorize to ushers music? Trump certainly thinks money can buy anything, but this time he will be what he despises the most: a loser.
