According to Newsday: “a bill in the State Legislature to name a part of state Route 107 in the Long Island town Oyster Bay after Billy Joel passed in the Senate last week. The bill, which was sponsored by state Senator Jack Martins and Assemblyman Michael Montesano, proposes that the “stretch of South Broadway from East John Street to West Old Country Road” will be called ‘Billy Joel Boulevard’.”
Oyster bay? Billy has just opened a motorbike shop there…
Well now, I think this is a fine idea indeed and welcome the opportunity to tip my hat in the Piano Man’s general vicinity and believe they should add some special rules for the Boulevard.
1 – You will be arrested if caught drinking under the legally drunk limit, you don’t drink, you don’t drive on Billy Joel Boulevard.
2 – Motorbikes get right of way always.
3 – Helmets optional.
4 – Moving Out? You get your own special exit ramp.
5 – No exits till 34th street.
And tons of other stupid jokes I am too busy to think of right this moment.
On a serious note… actually there is no serious note here.
