I betcha even Romeo and Juliet had their off days, you can’t love everybody every day and always, love comes and goes, right? No, wait, “like” comes and goes, somedays you love somebody without necessarily liking them and so it is with goddamn New York City.
With the exception of the Rangers we have no local teams we speak of, it has been freezing cold, stay at home and hibernate, for months, it is very expensive, the subway system is falling apart so spectacularly that as we struggle with another 5% rise in prices, the train to Bedford isn’t running so fuck knows how I am getting to Laura Marling at Warsaw.
Our Mayor is really lousy, crime is going up, rent is going up, salaries are stagnant, the school system is an expensive disaster area, the rich are getting way way way richer and the middle class is disappearing.
Personally, I am worn out and I am not alone, every day at work the entire world ages before my very eyes, everyone is tired. New York City feels like a series of body blows…
The bottom of the barrel was Monday evening. No “L” train to Brooklyn, a good 90 minute trip to the club, the doors are at 8pm, opening act, figure it is over 11p to 1130p and then what? If I get home by one it will be a miracle ad then not just work but work and the new releases tomorrow.
I can’t do it, not even with a ticket to Laura Marling on a sold at gig, it is too cold, tiring, expensive, late… Fuck new York city, man. This sucks. So I did buy a ticket to her Town Hall gig on another Monday, August 3rd, and have to pass on standing all night. It’s too fucking short a movie man for this shit.
