Today February 19, 1957 a fantastic performer was born, Dave Wakeling.
Front man of one of my favorite bands The Beat. I was able to see them this past autumn and I can tell you they are outstanding live.
Yeah yeah, they’re not 21 but they also don’t pretend to be as some 80s bands do.
What The Beat does is perform there songs with the same energy and a tone down demeanor.
Their audience a healthy mix of college kids who never knew them ‘back in the day’ and those like me who have loved them for decades. Rounder sweatier and more refined Wakeling is the consummate professional owns the entire stage.
I want to see them live every week if only to dance around the room. I pretty much lost a shoe at the last show, and damn well worth it.
