Radiohead Limber

First Arcade Fire winning album of the year, then, as Helen reported earlier today,  a Radiohead’s tweet announcing the close release of ‘The King of Limbs’ their 8th and upcoming album,… the title sounds like a character from ‘the Lord of the ring’, and I’m not too far: it’s about a 1,000-year-old oak tree in Wiltshire’s Savernake Forest… it also seems very green-anti-global-warming to me.

For $48 or $53 (depending on the digital download format) you can pre-order the very opulent ‘Newspaper album’ consisting of 2 clear 10″ vinyl records in a purpose-built record sleeve, a compact disc, many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork, a full-color piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together, and a digital download compatible with all good digital media players.

The download is good next February 19th (wow that’s this Saturday!) but the actual Newspaper Album will only be shipped on Monday 9th May 2011.

Of course you can only choose the digital presale, in mp3 format for only $9, or in wav format for only $14

And there’s even a surprise as one lucky owner of the digital version purchased from Radiohead’s website, will receive a signed 2 track 12″ vinyl.

However, there is not the option ‘pay whatever you want’, as they did for their last album ‘In Rainbows’.

The album is rumored to have only 8 tracks, but it does not make any sense with 2 vinyl records in the Newspaper album. Such a fast release surprised everyone, and we should all go for the ecological-Thom-Yorke-approved digital format.
