Stage Dive Assault, Your 15 Minute of Fame Report

Pff, wah ever
Pff, wah ever

If you have ever been to a hardcore show you know the idiots run amuck.  You mix up young 20’s, teenagers and dubra add a dash of screaming thrash and its a recipe for ‘wtf’ moments.

This week (or maybe month, this one is good) a young gent from Colorado was charged with assault when he took a stage dive off a  balcony and injured three concert goers below.  Pressing charges was dumb enough, all shows are ‘at your own risk’ so I think there may be a bit more to this than is being shared.

Alex McCormick, youre stereotypical 23 year old hardcore fan went to the Bring Me The Horizon show to see opener LetLive.  The fact that he went to a BMTH show is funny enough not exactly a cool rep band these days, since lead singer Sykes is more of a girls teen dream then a balls to the wall hard act.  But we will give Alex a nod for having the sense to say he was there to see LetLive who actually have a bit of spunk to them- good call.

In his statement he claims to regret nothing and states if youre going to a hardcore show you should ‘go hard’, he also states

“Not that being in jail is cool or anything but it’s definitely hilarious, to me, to see how people twist things. It’s a hardcore/punk culture atmosphere. If you didn’t come to the show to get wild and have a good time then why would you even show up? Stay home, nigga. People are moshing; punching each other in the face, kicking each other. People crowd surfing on people i.e. Far more wreckless behavior than my incident; ‘I jump. You catch me’. Lol, can’t believe I spent a week in jail for this bogusness considering the ‘victims’ were released from the hospital with no injuries according to a DT. Pff wha ever dude. I gotta mic handed to me and got to help close out a set to one of my favorite bands (letlive). I got to jump off a 20ft balcony and be caught by numerous, eager, fellow funtime havers. I don’t regret it. I’ll remember that day for as long as I live. Welcome to genuine hardcore and punk culture, Colorado! #508”

A true ‘dude’ in every sense.
