If rock nyc does not matter to big bad Epitaph, or our thousands of readers, do I care if it matters to me?
I won’t be treated badly and not retaliate. Writing about music, even music itself (punk? remember punk? ) is all retaliation. I’m not big enough to face Epitaph. Yeah, right. Epitaph doesn’t care? Learn from history where it gets you.
Here is a metaphor (extreme, I admit). The US gave free money to Iran, to the Shah Pahlavi, for decades. They said “come here little Iranians, we will feed and clothe you. The Shah was the usual but he wasn’t bad, relatively. Sure, tortured and killed the opposition, starved the poor, but at least the middle class were OK. And girls and guys could hold hands in public.
Ayatollah Khomeini came and said the US were Satan and the Iranian people were vastly superior to the US anyway and washed away billions like that. By speaking to peoples sense of self respect, they would rather starve than kneel. The Iranians didn’t wanna be the US children… fuck literacy, fuck rights, fuck money. The Iranians wanted to feel the equals, the betters, of any one. If not now, when?

I want to be treated with good manners. It is not acceptable for Epitaph to keep rock nyc waiting four months for a word of response. That’s it. That’s all.
To consider rock nyc hubristic to be want to be treated with a modicum of respect is to miss the point. If I was back running my school paper when I was 15 years old I would expect the same as I do now. RESPOND -say no, say got it, working on it. I am so low, you can’t even be bothered to hit send?? If, as somebody claimed, Jamie is responsible for the entire roster of Epitaph bands, she is an idiot and Gurewitz is a cunt.
